When I first started my business in 2008, I never really realized how lucky I was to have a husband who is an accountant. Because in photography, it seems like what everyone needs is their own personal (and free) graphic designer. And while he’s good at resizing images for me in photoshop, graphic design is not his forte. Nor mine. It wasn’t until terms like DBA, BOE and sales tax came up that I realized I was in over my head and dare I say, dependent on his business and accounting knowledge. Because he’s the one who walked me through the entire process. And when we finally purchased Quickbooks, he quickly took over after I did the entering for a few months. Apparently, my superb organizational skills just aren’t good enough for him when it comes to accounting software. And I think I’m okay with that because when it comes to running the business, we all know who’s boss.
I’m excited to announce that j has been asked to give a presentation about Sales Tax & Photography on Thursday, September 8th, 2011 at 6:00p at the monthly Photo Sharp Shooters meeting. As always, the event will be held at Calumet in Santa Ana. After the presentation, there will be a Q&A and he will be answering questions about sales tax, accounting and everything in between. The event is completely FREE so stop by and get your learn on. Also, if you’re a photographer and in need of private bookkeeping services, j is currently taking on a limited number of clients. Email him for more information: jeff@ashley-photographer.com
And just for good measure, here’s a behind the scenes image from our latest day after session. J frequently makes it a point to get a picture with all of our couples and this time, he made use of the prop they brought with them.

J even looks like an accountant. (whatever an accountant looks like). And people, if you hire J he will get all your taxes in order, I promise! Cute pic, Ash.
That is awesome, Go Jeff!!!!
Oh, good grief! He’s got no shame in his game!
Hire J…he’s a life saver!
